Up Natchez Trace Parkway

(Mississippi)
This is how most of the parkway looks.  There are so many things to see along the way.  You don't see any commercial businesses unless you get off the parkway.  There is about a 4 ft free map you should pick up that shows all the things to see.  The map also shows the exits to take to get to fuel and food.
Here Baby is watching to world go by.  Mount Locust  is a very interesting historic inn and plantation.
It was so quiet and peaceful here.  There were only a couple other people here at the same time.

They have furnished the rooms as they would have been in the early 1800's.
Back then kitchens were not part of the house so you don't see it here.  The ashes from wood burning fires were saved and added to animal fat in the above wooden box to make soap.  There was a cemetery a few yards from the house.

The split wood fence outlines the slave cemetery. There is only one marker that has survived.

  1. Glad to read your report. I plan to take the Natchez Trace Pkwy southward from Tennessee. After the Southeast Lazy Daze campout near Chattanooga, I will be heading to the southwest for the winter. Hope you're enjoying your travels in your new LD.
