Further up Blue Ridge Parkway

( Doughton Park NSP )    Hi 93 Lo 64
Looks like the road goes off into nowhere.  I went off the parkway for a bit and came across these two shots.

Inside and out of a building nearby
Church pic was taken on a road off the parkway.
Here is my spot at Doughton Park campground. The view out the back.
Had a deer run through the campsite.  Second pic shows a trail from the campground to Brinegar Cabin.
Brinegar Cabin  was bought in 1870's by Martin Binegar.
The house to the left and outdoor pantry where they kept their food like meats and dried grains.
Inside main two room house.
Here is a spring where they carried water to the house several times a day.
Pic of backside of buildings but actually the front door.

Martin was a shoemaker and Caroline made garments out of Linsey-Woolsey.  It is woven from wool yarn and linen (flax) thread.

  1. Good pictures. Interesting places. Looks like you were the only one there.

    1. At the campground there were others but we were well spread out. The other pics in this post were either taken early in the morning or an off road site.
