Waiting in line to be parked. Took 1.5 hrs if I remember |
This was my first RV experience. I didn't want it to
end. I am sooo ready. I flew into Phoenix and
caught a taxi to pick up the RV. Thought I wouldn't
make it there cause the taxi driver kept asking me
for the address with a question on his face. I made
it from there to the raceway alright. I had a GPS
with me. The total number of units there for the

Taken soon after I parked. My first RV rental. |
week was 3370. Not knowing any better, I let them park me next to one of the big generators. For the first night, the noise from it reverberated in my rig. I slept maybe 3.5 hrs that night. If the wind wasn't blowing just right then I got the fumes as well. Yes I know this is not good. The next afternoon I moved the RV as far forward as I could. My neighbor gave me some earplugs and that all helped a lot. After the first night I ended up sleeping in the overhead cab. I was really surprised how little water I needed to use. We only had electrical hookups. That was fine. My propane level never fell below full. I only used my heater after 3:30a when I woke and was chilly.
I was hoping to blog while I was at the Rally but I only took my Ipad and couldn't get it to in put the pictures I had in it. There was wifi in the main tent.

So much info that I had to start taking pictures |
There were lots of businesses taking care of the RVs. I felt left out. lol You can see how close I was to the generator the first night. I moved a few feet the next day. I probably walked almost 2 hours each evening on top of all the walking done during the day, There was a tram from the parking to the main event. It was possible to walk and I did that also for the exercise. The weather there was so perfect. I love warm weather. I took more pictures but I guess they are not in this computer yet. On one of my walks I noticed another generator set up with no one hooked up and it was set up to service 100 rigs. That's a lot of power. Loved taking walks and see every RV and how people had them set up. I like looking for all the extras. When I first put the blocks in front of the tires I was afraid I wouldn't do it right. Thought I would run off the blocks or over them. When I got out to look I was just right. Lots of space for just one person. No complaints here. Couldn't get much better. It was interesting to see some of the planets and their surrounding moons.
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and by far the largest. Jupiter is classified as a gas giant along with
Saturn,
Uranus and
Neptune.

This will not be an option for me...but a necessity |
Venus is the second planet from the Sun, orbiting it every 224.7 Earth days. The planet is named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty. I did buy a pillow. I am enjoying it. It's suppose to not go flat. So far so good. There was so much good information at these seminars. Had to choose which one to go to during each segment. The only one I would need to give a D to was the Satellite TV one. The very first seminar on the very first day that I picked didn't show up and was cancelled. Well I ran over to my second choice then. The second day I picked the Satellite TV one again and the lady seemed more like an infomercial. She started out naming the portable ones. Then telling you how long it takes to set them up and 40 min to get a signal etc. She then mentioned you would get upset at it and kick it then you would damage it. I think she didn't want people to buy the portable ones. If someone had gone to that seminar with no clue about satellite TV then that's the same thing they would know when they left it. She had no slide show or items with her to show. She stood at the podium doing a speech. A couple of the seminars I went to...the people had so much info to tell that it filled the 1.5 slot and could have gone over. Sometimes the outside speaker system would interrupt the seminars. As I preview this blog....it isn't setting up as I see it when I am doing it. The pics and text get all pushed around. So I am going to end here now.
Rally Seminars are somewhat like infomercials. Everyone has something to sell. You need to listen, and add it all up to your "knowledge" store. When you have your own rig you will have more specific questions to ask. You might want to join the Yahoo Users group for LazyDays. I'm sure they must have one or more, and probably a few Lazy Days owners clubs as well. We joined the Alfa Groups after we bought our Alfa and have learned a lot. If nothing else it gives us a place to go and as questions.
ReplyDeleteI see you have word verification on. Many of us have turned it off, and are not leaving comments on blogs that keep it. So if you get fewer comments that may be why.
Good for you. Once you try this, you'll forget to worry about certain things. Like if you're not on the block, you do it again. Nice test ride.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post about the rally. I haven't been to one yet, only RV shows, but did attend their seminars, which were interesting. Some day I'll make it to a rally. :)
ReplyDeleteBummer to be put right by the large generator. I sleep in my loft bed, it's the only one I have, and I find it very comfortable, but if I had a "down bed," that would be my preference.
Yes, I agree with Merikay, you might want to turn off your word verification. I no longer leave comments with that enabled, and you will receive fewer from other readers, too. Sorry about that, but it's a pain. :(
